Choose the Orbit if your priority is big air, boosting and loops.

Choose the Carve if your priority is surf, waves and strapless freestyle.

Big Air - made for height, hang time and powered kiteloops. The North Orbit is the dedicated big air kite.

Freeride - the most versatile choice for everyday riding and progression. The North Reach is the all-round performance freeride kite.

Surf - made for wave riding and drift. The North Carve is the surf and strapless freestyle kite.

Freestyle/Wakestyle - built for unhooked freestyle tricks and slack. The North Pulse is the freestyle and wakestyle kite.

Foil and lightwind - designed to stay efficient in lower wind and pair well with hydrofoils. The North Code Zero models serve foil and lightwind-focused riders.

The North Reach is the safest starting point for most beginner and progressing riders because it is designed as an all-round freeride kite with broad wind-range usability, accessible handling and easier progression across different conditions. The Orbit is better for riders focused on big air and stronger-wind performance after they already have good control.

The Orbit is North's big air and freeride kite for riders who want boosting, hang time, loops and strong upwind drive. The Reach is North's more versatile performance freeride kite for riders who want one kite that can cover freeride, jumps, waves, foil and general progression. Choose Orbit when big air is the priority; choose Reach when versatility is the priority.

Kite size depends on rider weight, wind strength, board size, riding style and local conditions.

Under 60 kg - around 5-7 m in strong wind, 8-10 m in average wind and 11-13 m in light wind.

60-75 kg - 6-8 m in strong wind, 9-11 m in average wind and 12-14 m in light wind.

75-90 kg - 7-9 m in strong wind, 10-12 m in average wind and 13-15 m in light wind.

Over 90 kg - 8-10 m in strong wind, 11-13 m in average wind and 14-17 m in light wind.

You can ride waves with the Orbit, but it is not the best North kite for dedicated wave riding. The Orbit is built primarily for big air and freeride performance. The Carve is the better North choice for surf and strapless freestyle because it is designed around wave riding needs. The Reach is the more versatile compromise if you ride both flat water and waves.

Yes. North offers complete kite sets for riders who want a ready-matched setup with a good discount. A full kite set can help you combine the right kite, control system, board, and foot connection more easily, while giving you a better price than choosing each item separately.
