North Windsurfing celebrates a historic milestone: for the very first time in the history of the North Action Sports Group, the North Windsurfing has secured a World Championship title.
French rider Pierre Mortefon, who joined North in 2026, claimed a dominant victory in the Foil discipline, winning a total of four eliminations and taking the overall title in impressive style.
The event was highly competitive, with 162 participants from around the world, including all top athletes in the sport. Challenging conditions, with at times very light winds, made equipment choice and performance crucial.
Pierre delivered an outstanding performance throughout the competition. His speed on the water and consistency across all races set him apart from the rest of the field.
" So much training went into the preparation. Iβm incredibly proud and happy β especially with the new North Prisma sails.
Speed-wise we were right at the top. Winning here at home makes it even more special. "
- Pierre Mortefon
Mortefon highlighted the efficiency and range of his equipment as key factors:Β "The gear was super efficient, and I had great confidence, especially on the 8.0 Prisma Foil sail. The range it offers is unbelievable, which gave me a lot of control in these tricky conditions."
Adding to this historic success, North Windsurfing celebrated another major highlight: Amado Vrieswijk delivered a sensational performance in the Fin category, securing 2nd place overall and claiming the Vice World Champion title.
With two athletes on the podium across disciplines, the result underlines the strength and competitiveness of the North team on the global stage.
Powering the Team were the Latest North Prisma rigs, the first windsurf product from the newly structured North Development Hub in the Netherlands. Category Manager Vincent Langer put into perspective βThis was a huge push from our whole team, working through the winter to squeeze everything out of the new rigs. With Alex and Pieter driving the design side, and Pierre and Amado testing extensively, the All New Prisma is the massive step we wanted to make.β
The new PRISMA runs a lightweight Isotropic film body and UDI load aligned, lightweight reinforcing, where rig power is channeled instantly into the composite rig frame. This frame features the PB Taperlight Batten System, where each batten is engineered as a single hollow section. Completing the rig is the Ultimate Racing Boom from T800 Carbon, as the lightest and stiffest boom on the market. And the absolute precision of the Optima Mast, with its unique digitized manufacture process. North rig engineering at its finest.
This victory marks a perfect start to the new season and reinforces North Windsurfingβs position at the forefront of competitive windsurfing.
