2025 North Orbit Ultra: Jason Montreal Review
Lukas: Mainly tech – The Orbit is faster but still a five-strut kite, so not as fast as a three-strut Aluula kite. The wind range is excellent, offering both a good high and low end. It feels amazing on the bar. The Ultra flies mainly on the front lines when it’s above you, which makes it easy to use. However, it won’t overshoot when you push the bar out, allowing you to hold your edge and stay on the water longer.
Jason Montreal: The Orbit Ultra moves quickly and sits further forward in the wind window. I was surprised by the higher bar pressure on the 9m—not heavy like the Edge, Rebel, or XR, but definitely heavier than other Aluula kites and the Harlem Force. However, this added pressure translates into more power during boosts and loops. I’ve never felt this much power on an Orbit before. It’s also the fastest Orbit yet—a blend of different worlds: fast like Aluula but with noticeable bar pressure.
It feels like an improved version of the Harlem Force in terms of performance, yet similar in design and purpose (built for doubles). If you're looking for a confidence-building big air kite, the Orbit Classic/Pro is the way to go. The Ultra, on the other hand, will be more enjoyable for higher-level riders.
For smaller sizes, if you’re not pushing new tricks but focusing on going big and boosting, the Ultra is the better choice due to its speed, power, and stability.
